Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of BarFit ("BarFit", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a current law student, bar applicant, or licensed attorney to use BarFit. By creating an account you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet these eligibility requirements.

2. Not legal advice

BarFit is an information and preparation tool. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Using BarFit, including its AI coaching features, does not create an attorney–client relationship between you and BarFit, its operators, or any contributor. For serious Character & Fitness concerns, including prior arrests or convictions, professional discipline, substance abuse history, mental health history, or disputed academic conduct, you should consult a licensed attorney who specializes in bar admissions in your jurisdiction.

3. AI-generated content

BarFit uses Anthropic's Claude, our only AI provider, to generate coaching feedback, simulated hearing questions, and consistency checks. AI outputs:

are not legal advice;
may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information;
are intended as a coaching aid only. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of anything you submit to a bar admissions authority.

Do not paste AI output directly into your bar application without independently verifying it.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use BarFit to prepare submissions you know to be false or misleading; (b) use BarFit on behalf of someone else without their permission; (c) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service; (d) upload content that infringes another person's rights or violates law; (e) use BarFit in a way that violates any applicable bar admission rule or court order.

5. Accounts

You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for any activity under your account. Notify us promptly of unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that we reasonably suspect of fraud, or that pose a risk to other users or to BarFit.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans, Monthly ($20/month) and Lifetime ($49 one time), are billed through Stripe. Monthly plans are billed each month; Lifetime access is a single payment and does not renew.
Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your Account page; access continues through the end of the current billing period.
Refunds: we offer a 7-day refund on initial purchase or renewal if you have not yet used a paid feature. After that period, fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice for renewals.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the information, disclosures, and documents you submit. You grant BarFit a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely to provide the service to you. We will not use your content to train AI models.

8. Intellectual property

BarFit, including its software, copy, design, case-history database, questionnaire content, and AI prompts, is owned by BarFit and protected by U.S. and international intellectual property laws. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

9. Disclaimers

BARFIT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY PARTICULAR OUTCOME WILL RESULT FROM USING IT.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BARFIT AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) US$100.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time. When you delete your account, your data is removed from active systems within 5 business days, and backup copies are purged within 30 days. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if continued provision of the service to you is no longer commercially reasonable.

12. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice and will take effect 30 days after notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
